In 2017, the Philadelphia Housing Authority, in partnership with the City of Philadelphia, received a Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant, leading to the ‘Blossom at Bartram’ Transformation Plan in 2020 and an Implementation Grant in July of 2023.
The Blossom at Bartram Plan represents the culmination of 24 months of intensive engagement and collaborative work, and a synthesis of the ideas and aspirations of Bartram Village residents, neighborhood residents, local organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders.
The plan organizes a collective vision into an attainable roadmap, with a series of goals and strategiesbuilt on the themes of: Connect, Live, and Thrive!
CONNECT
Create an inviting community that is clean, green, and safe with beautiful, active public spaces. Connect people to these places; to nature and recreation; and to each other.
LIVE
Create and environment that fosters the health and wellness if all residents of all ages, through healthy and affordable housing, access to medical services and nutritious food, and to spaces that heal the mind and body.
THRIVE
Foster access for people of all ages to education, skills, jobs, services, inspiration and encouragement so that they can thrive. Enable the neighborhood to blossom by celebrating its history and strengthen its commercial corridor.
